Economy and taxes:

John McCain-Voted against Bush tax cuts in 2001, but now believes they should be permanent. Cut corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent.

Barack Obama-Would lower taxes for those making below $250,000. Raise income and capital gains taxes on those making above $250,000.

Health Care:

John McCain-$5,000 taz credit per family to help with rising costs.

Barack Obama-A universal mandate for children. Spend more than $65 million a year to make universal coverage affordable for poor and middle class families.

Education:

John McCain-Supports vouchers for school choice and more aid for community colleges.

Barack Obama-Invest in early childhood education and higher education. $4,000 college tax credit for 100 hours of public service a year.

Energy:

John McCain-Led Senate effort to put a cap on green house emissions. His Lexington Project would expand domestic drilling and natural gas exploration and production. Supports nuclear power as well as geothermal,solar and wind.

Barack Obama-Help create 5 million jobs by spending $150 billion to get the U.S. off foreign oil. Supports cap on green house emissions and domestic drilling if part of a broad energy plan to include geothermal, solar and wind power.
