A panicking woman with a large mole rat attacking her face is one of the wax sculptures that can be found at the Phoenix Art Museum.

Many other fascinating pieces of modern art, along with collections of traditional American, European, Latin American, and Asian.

Open for free to the public on Tuesdays from 3-9 p.m. the Phoenix Art Museum provides a chance to see famous art up close.

It takes about two hours to go through the whole museum, but the highlights are the contemporary and modern art exhibits, which offer a wide variety of styles, mediums and contemporary concepts.

Other attractions include the Thorne rooms on the second floor, which shows the evolution of houses through periods of Western history, starting with the Renaissance.

Tuesdays provide an excellent opportunity for a cheap date or a chance to enjoy an immersion into culture.

The museum, located on McDowell and Central is also free on the first friday of every month from 6-10 p.m. and $8 for students other days of the week. The museum is closed on Mondays.
