An environmentally conscious house flourishes just off of Apache Boulevard in Tempe. Julie Dreyer bought the house on East Hall Street in January 2006. Dreyer had taken courses in permaculture; the designing of human systems based on natural ecosystems, and decided to have her house follow those principles.

The U.S. Constitution guarantees "the right of the people to keep and bear arms," and students at MCC have used that right. Many students have begun to exercise this right by going through classes to receive their concealed carry weapons permit. The permit gives private citizens the right to carry a handgun or other weapons in a concealed manner, either on their person or in close proximity to their person.

Spencer Morgan, MCC student government president, spoke during the Feb. 23 governing board meeting concerning possible fee increases. Morgan said he wanted to "commend the board for not raising tuition," but was also concerned about the 44-page fee proposal.

Many outlets for online schooling have popped up on the web in the recent decade; classes suited for homeschooled kindergartners to high school students, offering the chance to obtain a diploma at a "virtual high school." There are no actual teachers. A "virtual school" student pays for books and other materials, then either teaches themselves or is homeschooled by a parent.

MCC hosts events to educate students on the environment during green week

This year MCC will be hosting "Green Week" with a series of events set to take place on campus through March 12. "(This event was) mainly put together by myself, Associated Students of MCC and the Environmental Action Club with participation from various departments around campus (art, fashion, interior design, biology, horticulture, library)," said Environmental Sustainability coordinator Suzi Dodt.
