College students across the world pick up on some pretty bad habits and may not have recognized how these habits have evolved. Ninety MCC students were polled and asked to list their top three worst college habits. Among the most popular answers were "not wanting to be at school," "not exercising," and "losing focus in class" because of things such as being distracted by the opposite sex.

Board pays $1.14M to study district's efficiency

The Maricopa Community Colleges Governing Board signed a $1.14 million contract with efficiency consultants Alvarez and Marsal on Aug. 17. In a 3-2 vote, the MCCCD Board approved A&M over two other candidates. Over the next four months, the firm will conduct a districtwide evaluation of the Maricopa Community College system, identifying inefficiencies and recommending reforms.

Corky Palacios, an advisor at the Red Mountain campus said that there are many advantages to taking a course over the summer and students should definitely take advantage of them.

Summer is almost here and it's finally time to let the fun begin. Memorial Day is the first holiday to kick off the student's timeout from the nine months of grueling class schedules. The Fire Science/EMT program at MCC continues to evolve, offering students a variety of career opportunities. Started in 1994 at the MCC Dobson campus, the at the time program only covered classroom study, and was housed in temporary buildings. After a few moves, the program finally settled at the Downtown Center and at the Williams Center, offering not only classroom study, but hands on EMT, paramedic and firefighting training as well.
