The MCC football team getting off to a 1-2 start for the season might be the least of their worries. Six players on the team played in the first game of the year against Snow College on Sept. 6, but weren't certified to play under National Junior College Athletic Association rules.
On Dec. 13, 2008, the first ever national Junior College All-America game will take place at Chandler High School. Triumphant Sports are expecting over 7,500 fans from all over the United States to attend this football game. Triumphant Sports has invited 85 of the top players from different Junior colleges to play in the All-American Game.
MCC's own Joe Germaine has been to the Rose Bowl, the Super Bowl, the Arena Bowl and is currently the quarterback for Utah's Arena Football team, the Blaze. Germaine, the Thunderbirds' quarterback coach, though born in Colorado, moved to Arizona at age six and said he still considers it home.
After a good start to their Monday night home volleyball match the Lady thunderbirds faltered in the final three matches to lose to the weaker-playing Pima Community College Aztecs. With the loss the Thunderbird Women's Volleyball team falls to 4-9 in regular season play.
